Mullayanagiri

Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka known for its breathtaking views located in the Baba Budangiri range of the western ghats. A perfect location to visit with family and friends Mullayanagiri is 42 kms or 1.5 hours drive from Guddadamane Homestay. Vehicles can go to the top most part that is the second base where there is limited parking, post which you will have to climb around 450 steps to get to the top most point. If you're lucky there might be jeeps shuttling between Seethalayanagiri and Mullayanagiri which can be availed on chargeable basis.You will need to book an e pass.

Jhari Waterfalls

Jhari Waterfalls

Known by multiple names — Jhari Falls, Buttermilk Falls, Sagheer Ahmed Falls or Dabedabe Falls — this stunning waterfall is located in a private coffee plantation on the way to Baba Budangiri. It is accessible only by 4x4 jeep (park your car and hire one — about Rs. 700–800 for 6–7 people). Ideal for swimming and cooling off. Carry dry clothes. Best time to visit is post noon. This is one of the most rewarding spots near Chikmagalur.

A sacred mountain range in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Baba Budangiri was originally known as Chandra Drona Parvatha. It was renamed after the Sufi saint Baba Budan, who is credited with bringing raw coffee beans from Mecca, Yemen while returning from Hajj — and planting them in this very range, making it the birthplace of Indian coffee cultivation. Today, Baba Budangiri is famous for its trekking trails, mountain scenery and its dargah which is revered by people of all faiths.

A quiet, unhurried spot — just the kind of place Chikmagalur does best.

Formerly known as Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary, this Project Tiger reserve is one of the finest wildlife destinations in the Western Ghats..Safaris operate from two zones — Lakkavali in the northern section and Muthodi in the southern section. The Muthodi entrance is the closer one to Guddadamane Homestay, making it a convenient day trip from our property.Advance booking for safaris is recommended, especially during peak seasons.

Sringeri - Sri Sharadamba Temple

One of the most famous Hindu temples in Karnataka, Sri Sharadamba Temple was founded by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century and sits on the banks of the river Tunga. The temple complex is deeply historical and spiritually significant — one of the four dhams established by Shankaracharya. The drive from Guddadamane is scenic and can be combined with a visit to Hornadu the same day. Plan to arrive in the morning for the best darshan experience.

The Annapoorneshwari Temple at Hornadu is dedicated to the goddess Annapoorneshwari and is situated on the banks of river Bhadra. Surrounded by thick forests and natural beauty, the setting is as stunning as the temple itself. About 70 km from Guddadamane, it is best visited in the morning. Hornadu and Sringeri can be planned together on the same day — both lie in the same direction and make for a deeply rewarding day trip.

A dramatic hilltop escape covered in lush green carpets and thick rolling clouds. The dirt trails on these hills are completely off-road and accessible only by 4x4 jeeps — the ride itself is something of a rollercoaster and part of the thrill. With picturesque landscapes, sweeping views and an adrenaline rush, Kyatanamakki is perfect if you are already in the Hornadu area. For those coming specifically from Chikmagalur town, set aside a full day for this adventure.

After Mullayanagiri, Kemmanagundi is perhaps the most popular hill station in Chikmagalur. Once the private summer retreat of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, it has become a favourite for trekkers and wildlife enthusiasts. Z Point is a spectacular viewpoint reachable by trail, with stunning green valley views. On the way back, visit Kalhatti Falls and Veerabhadreshwara Temple. Budget 6–10 hours for the full Kemmanagundi circuit including travel time.

Hebba Waterfalls

Hebba waterfalls is one of the best waterfalls in this range gushing down from over 550 feet. To get to this waterfall you will need to hire a jeep which costs around Rs.3000 to Rs.4000, the charges are high as the roads are in very bad condition and stretching around 8 to 10kms. On your way back one could visit Kalhatti falls and Veerabhadreshwara temple. One can easily budget around 6 to 10 hours to visit all the places in kemmangundi including travel time from Chikmagalur.

Guddadamane Coffee Plantation Tour

Your trip to Chikmagalur is not complete without taking the tour of the splendid Guddadamane coffee plantations. The plantation is 24 kms or 40 mins drive from Chikmagalur town. The tour of the plantation lasts about 1 to 2 hours depending on the guests comfort, it costs Rs.500 per person which includes coffee plantation tour and fresh filter coffee with biscuits. Also you get to see the 150 year old plantation bungalow. Guests are free to spend some time at the plantation post the tour.
